Why invent a totally new course?

Hi, I’m Caroline Bateman,

After helping my own dyslexic children to go from failing to excelling at school. I was alarmed by how many schools were not utilising basic technologies & strategies that would stop SEN learners from underachieving.

Determined to correct this inequality, I started to teach the skills SEN learners need in after-school clubs. The success of these clubs while encouraging was limited as students were exhausted after a day at school.

Wanting to help more learners achieve, I realised I needed to make the most of the long summer school holiday. This is the only time SEN students have the energy to learn new skills, free from the pressures of the academic year.

I knew from first-hand experience that parents need a holiday too. I was determined to give them a break from having to constantly nag and cagoule, which is exhausting.

Rather than think, about what I could teach within the confines of a traditional holiday course, I thought outside of the box (a dyslexic strength). I asked myself:

  • What do dyslexics & their parents need to be taught?

  • How can I ensure families can still enjoy their summer holiday?

As a result, I designed something extremely flexible, so families that traveled did not miss out.

I named the course…

TECHNOLOGIES & Touch Typing for academic success.

…it does exactly what it says on the tin.

From dictation to touch typing, notetaking to essay writing, this technology-driven course offers students the toolkit they need to overcome their weaknesses and let their intelligence and dyslexic gifts shine through.

Equip your dyslexic child to thrive, not just survive.
