Switched on Schools is a flexible teacher training programme that enables schools to transform the way they support dyslexic learners to reach their full academic potential.  Delivered on school premises on either INSET days or straight after school, Switched on Schools is bespoke and tailored to the specific needs of the school.  A significant focus of the course centres on how teachers can maximise the use of innovative IT apps and software packages to engage dyslexic learners and improve the learning experience for the whole class.  

TEACHERS WILL LEAVE INVIGORATED AND BRIMMING WITH IDEAS FOR HOW TO MAKE THEIR LESSONS MORE IMPACTING FOR ALL STUDENTS.

What does it cover?
Switched on Schools course provides a comprehensive exploration of ways your school can best support dyslexics and covers both the effective use of IT and wider issues including behavioural challenges, building self-esteem and working with parents.

Usually the SENCO or interested teachers have attended a Harnessing Technology for Dyslexics workshop, and have seen the value in educating the rest of the staff in specific areas of interest.  Additional subjects covered may include:

  • What does Dyslexia feel / look like?
  • Dyslexic or "dumb"?
  • Self esteem and motivation
  • Learning preferences and how to cater for them
  • Dyslexia Screening
  • Communicating concerns to parents
  • What makes a school Dyslexia friendly?
  • How can we utilize IT for dyslexic learning
